This vintage Herbert Terry Model 1209 Anglepoise lamp is a classic example of mid-century British lighting design. Based on the original 1930s invention by engineer George Carwardine, the 1209 continued the legacy of the revolutionary spring-balanced mechanism that made Anglepoise lamps indispensable in industrial and architectural environments.

This later version of the 1209, made in the 1950's or 1960's, features painted steel arms, a solid, heavy cast iron base, and the iconic articulated arm design that allows for smooth, precise positioning. Weighing an impressive 6.3kg, the lamp offers excellent stability, making it ideal for both practical use and display.

Favoured for its durability, adjustability, and understated industrial aesthetic, the 1209 gained a strong reputation in workshops, offices, and studios alike. A timeless piece of mid century design, it brings both functionality and vintage character to any modern or retro-inspired space.

Condition: Good vintage condition.  Minor dings in lampshade. Minor rusting.
