Founded and run by Graeme Matthews, the business has developed from a love of great design and a background in joinery and furniture restoration. Graeme previously ran the respected Wellington-based company Euclid Midcentury, and brings the same craftsmanship and curatorial eye to this new chapter.

With a deep appreciation for timeless design, Graeme personally sources every piece—furniture, lighting, and objet d’art—with a focus on Danish and Scandinavian modernism. Aesthetically beautiful furniture that embrace minimalism and sculptural form with ergonomic comfort. These designs also showcased modernist techniques of furniture making and the highest levels of craftsmanship. All elements that naturally complement the modernist Kiwi home.

Each piece is selected for its originality, character, and design integrity. While mass-market replicas are easy to come by, there’s something deeply special about owning an original. It adds soul and history to a space.

Graeme travels to the UK to hand-pick inventory. From sourcing and packing to shipping, cleaning, and restoration, he has a hands-on approach to every detail. Most of the restoration is done in-house ensuring the quality and authenticity of each item before it’s photographed and listed online.

At its heart, Midcentury is a labour of love—guided by a passion for beautiful objects and the thrill of the treasure hunt. While midcentury design remains the foundation, the collection is always evolving to include complementary pieces—ancient or modern, functional or artistic—that resonate with the same timeless appeal.
